Madalyn Freedman, LMHCA (She/Her)

Virtually in Washington

→ I am a lifelong artist and a former tall ship sailor, farmhand, and vagabond, currently

living on the slopes of an active volcano on Hawaiian land.

→ Coming from a family of bisexual Jewish mental health clinicians in Philadelphia, I’m

queer, spiritual but not religious, and occasionally my Philly accent peeks out.

→ I have a bratty cat whom I adore, though the local mice and mongooses do not.

→ In my free time, I enjoy word games, novels, comedy, playing guitar, making art, and

being in nature, especially the forest and the sea.

Hi! I’m Madalyn Freedman, LMHCA (she/her). For me, therapy is about creating a safe, nurturing space where deep healing can happen through the power of connection with your authentic self. As a trauma-informed therapist, I understand that most mental health challenges arise as natural adaptations to difficult experiences, or as expressions of soul wounds in a world that often lacks justice, equality, and compassion. I’m a fierce advocate for all my clients, with particular experience supporting trauma survivors, neurodivergent individuals, and the LGBTQIA+ community.

My sessions adapt to your unique needs, strengths, and values. We might start with a grounding exercise or somatic check-in; or we might have a few laughs before diving into deeper work. Drawing on approaches like Internal Family Systems and EMDR, I specialize in helping clients process and heal from trauma. Together, we'll work to help you feel empowered, connected with your true self and the present moment, and equipped to handle whatever life throws at you.

My Qualifications

  • Masters in Counseling Psychology - University of Hawaii

  • Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate - Washington
